Until the movement of the earth's tectonic plates, slate was just shale or humble mudstone. The enormous pressures involved in this shift then changed slate forever. These titanic forces realigned the minerals, mica and chlorite contained within the deposits, forming smooth flat layers. As it is so predisposed to forming layers, slate is a natural as a floor covering.

Graphite Black is a slate that is truly black on black, with the added interest of an occasional chink of white. Looks good spot-lit and works its stylish magic especially well in modern kitchens and dining rooms.
